Dunbar Douglas, 4th Earl of Selkirk was born on 1 December 1722.1 He was the son of Basil Hamilton and Isabella Mackenzie.1 He married Helen Hamilton, daughter of Hon. John Hamilton and Margaret Home, on 3 December 1758.1 He died on 26 March 1799 at age 76 at George Street, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 He was buried on 31 May 1799 at Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1

Mary Hamilton was the daughter of Hon. John Hamilton and Margaret Home.1 She married Sir John Halkett of Pitfirrane, 4th Bt. in 1764.1 She died on 3 December 1803.1
