General William Binfield Wemyss was born on 15 February 1810. He was the son of James Wemyss and Caroline Charlotte Binfield. He married Martha Rose Diana Smith, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Samuel Smith, on 24 March 1832. He died on 24 May 1890 at age 80.
