Gertrude Stuart was born on 11 November 1849.1 She was the daughter of Charles Stuart, 12th Lord Blantyre and Lady Evelyn Sutherland-Leveson-Gower.1 She married William Henry Gladstone, son of Rt. Hon. William Ewart Gladstone and Catherine Glynne, on 30 September 1875.2 She died on 25 April 1935 at age 85.2 She was also reported to have died on 26 June 1888.3
     From 30 September 1875, her married name became Gladstone.3
