     Ruth Christian was born on 19 October 1873 at Norfolk Island.1 She was the daughter of Isaac Christian and Miriam Young.1 She married Francis Hunn Nobbs, son of Alfred Augustine Nobbs and Mary Emily Christian, on 21 September 1899 at Norfolk Island.1
     In 1898, one record cited by Robert Nicholson notes, 'Hunt Christian, guardian'.1 From 21 September 1899, her married name became Nobbs.1
