     Sir John Chetwode, 4th Bt. was born on 11 May 1764.³ He was the son of Sir John Chetwode, 3rd Bt. and Dorothy Bretland.² He was baptised at Stockport, Cheshire, England.⁴ He married, firstly, Lady Henrietta Grey, daughter of George Harry Grey, 5th Earl of Stamford and Lady Henrietta Cavendish-Bentinck, on 26 October 1785 at Dunham Massey, Cheshire, England.⁴ He married, secondly, Elizabeth Bristow, daughter of John Bristow, on 16 May 1827 at Hammersmith, London, England.⁴ He died on 17 December 1845 at age 81 at Bognor Regis, Sussex, England.⁴ He was buried at Mucklestone, Staffordshire, England.⁴ His will was probated in February 1846.⁴
     Sir John Chetwode, 4th Bt. gained the title of 4th Baronet Chetwode, of Oakley, co. Stafford [E., 1700] on 25 May 1779.³ He held the office of Sheriff of Cheshire in 1789.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newcastle-under-Lyme from July 1815 to 1818.⁴ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Buckingham between 1841 and 1845.⁴
