     Sir James Grant of Grant, 8th Bt. was born on 19 May 1738.4 He was the son of Sir Ludovick Grant of Grant, 7th Bt. and Lady Margaret Ogilvie.1,3 He married Jean Duff, daughter of Alexander Duff and Lady Anne Duff, on 4 January 1763 at Bath, Somerset, England.4 He died on 18 February 1811 at age 72.4
     Sir James Grant of Grant, 8th Bt. also went by the nick-name of 'The Good Sir James'.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Baronet Colquhoun, of Luss [N.S., 1625] in 1775.5
     He had four other sons and five unmarried daughters.1
