     James Sinclair of Durran was born in 1718.3 He was the son of John Sinclair and Elizabeth Sinclair.2 He married, secondly, Dorothea Bruce.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Dunbar, daughter of Sir Patrick Dunbar of Northfield, 3rd Bt. and Catherine Brodie, in 1744.1 He died in 1793.1
     James Sinclair of Durran lived at Durran, Scotland.1

     Sir Patrick Dunbar of Northfield, 3rd Bt. was born circa 1676.3 He was the son of Sir Robert Dunbar of Northfield, 2nd Bt. and Mary Sinclair.2 He married, firstly, unknown Sinclair, daughter of William Sinclair of Dunbeath.3 He married, secondly, Catherine Brodie, daughter of Joseph Brodie of Mentoun and Elizabeth Dunbar, in 1722.3 He died on 5 April 1763, without surviving male issue.3
     Sir Patrick Dunbar of Northfield, 3rd Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Caithness between 1727 and 1734.3 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Dunbar, of Northfield [N.S., 1700] in 1742.4 On his death, the baronetcy became dormant.4

     Elizabeth Dunbar was the daughter of Sir Patrick Dunbar of Northfield, 3rd Bt. and Catherine Brodie.2,3 She married James Sinclair of Durran, son of John Sinclair and Elizabeth Sinclair, in 1744.1 She died in 1782.3
     From 1744, her married name became Sinclair.
