     Grizel Sophie MacEwen was the daughter of Air Vice-Marshal Sir Norman Duckworth Kerr MacEwen.1 She married, firstly, Major Humphrey Hugh Sykes, son of Major Herbert Rushton Sykes and Hon. Constance Harriet Georgina Skeffington, in 1936.2 She married, secondly, Major Henry Ferdinand Stanley, son of Brig.-Gen. Hon. Ferdinand Charles Stanley and Hon. Alexandra Frances Anne Fellowes, on 1 February 1949.1 She and Major Humphrey Hugh Sykes were divorced in 1948.2 She died on 6 June 2001 at Dumfries-shire, ScotlandG.3
     From 1936, her married name became Sykes.2 Her married name became Stanley.
