     John Galloway Rankin was born on 9 April 1915. He was the son of Edwyn Christopher Rankin.1 He married Olivia Mary Beatrice Stanley, daughter of Lt.-Col. Hon. Frederick William Stanley and Lady Alexandra Louise Elizabeth Acheson, on 8 April 1937.1 He died on 31 March 1949 at age 33.1
