     Sir James Douglas, 1st Bt. was born on 19 September 1639. He was the son of Hon. Sir William Douglas and Agnes Fawside. He married Catherine Douglas, daughter of James Douglas, 2nd Earl of Queensberry and Lady Margaret Stewart, on 28 October 1667. He died in 1708.
     Sir James Douglas, 1st Bt. gained the title of 1st Baronet Douglas, of Kelhead.
