     William David Gibson was born on 22 March 1914.1 He was the son of Hon. Edward Graves Mayne Gibson and Mary Phillips Greg.1 He married Sabina Landsberg, daughter of Dr. Ernst Landsberg, on 6 January 1947.1 He died in 1993.1
     William David Gibson usually went by his middle name of David.1 He was educated at Sherborne School, Sherborne, Dorset, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He graduated from Cambridge University in 1936 with the degree of Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was 2nd master and modern languages teacher, and housemaster between 1936 and 1965 at Clifton School, England.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the General Staff.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1944.1 He was decorated with the Territorial Decoration (T.D.).1 He graduated from Cambridge University in 1948 with the degree of Master of Arts (M.A.).1
