     Rt. Hon. Sir James Fergusson of Kilkerran, 6th Bt. was born on 18 March 1832.2 He was the son of Sir Charles Dalrymple-Fergusson of Kilkerran, 5th Bt. and Helen Boyle.2 He married, firstly, Lady Edith Christian Ramsay, daughter of Sir James Andrew Ramsay, 1st and last Marquess of Dalhousie of Dalhousie Castle and Lady Susan Georgiana Hay, on 9 August 1859.1 He married, secondly, Olive C. I. Richman, daughter of John Henry Richman, on 11 March 1873.2 He married, thirdly, Isabella Elizabeth Twysden, daughter of Reverend Thomas Twysden and Elizabeth Fortescue, on 5 April 1893.3 He died on 14 January 1907 at age 74 at JamaicaG, killed in an earthquake.1
     He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Fergusson, of Kilkerran [N.S., 1703] on 18 March 1849.2 He fought in the Crimean War between 1854 and 1855, with the Grenadier Guards and was wounded.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ayrshire between 1854 and 1857.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ayrshire between 1859 and 1868.2 He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary for India between 1866 and 1867.2 He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the Home Department between 1867 and 1868.2 He held the office of Governor of South Australia between 1868 and 1873.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)2 He held the office of Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand between 1873 and 1875.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.)3 He held the office of Captain of the Royal Company Archers.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.)3 He was Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.)2 He held the office of Governor of Bombay between 1880 and 1885.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for North-East Manchester between 1885 and 1906.2 He held the office of Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs between 1886 and 1891.2 He held the office of Postmaster-Geenral between 1891 and 1892.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Ayrshire.2 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.)2

     Lt.-Col. Hon. Lauderdale Maule-Ramsay was born on 27 March 1807.1 He was the son of William Maule-Ramsay, 1st Lord Panmure and Patricia Heron Gordon.1 He died on 1 August 1854 at age 47 at Varna, BulgariaG, while on active service, unmarried.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Forfar in 1852.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 79th Highlanders.1 He fought in the Crimean War.1
