Alexander James Boyle was born on 26 February 1842.1 He was the son of Patrick Boyle and Mary Frances Dalrymple-Horn-Elphinstone.1 He married, firstly, Maria Louisa Jane Hodgkinson, daughter of William Hodgkinson, on 20 July 1876.1 He married, secondly, Clare Banning, daughter of John Banning, on 14 November 1892.1 He died on 29 September 1909 at age 67.1
