     Alexander 'Mor' Macdonald, 1st of Boisdale was born in 1698.1 He was the son of Donald Macdonald of Clanranald and Moidart and 3rd of Benbecula and Margaret Mackenzie.2 He married Margaret Maclean, daughter of Hector Maclean, 11th of College.3 He married Anne Macneil, daughter of Roderick Macneil.3 He married Mary Macdonald, daughter of Sir Donald Macdonald, 1st of Castleton and Janet Mackenzie, in 1718.1 He died on 28 May 1768 at Argyllshire, Scotland.4
      In 1741 received a tack from his brother CLANRANALD of the lands of Boisdale, which he surrendered 1756, receiving a feu charter of Boisdale 1758.1
