Lt.-Col. Hon. Oliver Hugh Stanley was the son of Edward Lyulph Stanley, 4th Baron Sheffield and Mary Katherine Bell. He married Lady Alice Kathleen Violet Thynne, daughter of Sir Thomas Henry Thynne, 5th Marquess of Bath and Violet Caroline Mordaunt, on 8 July 1919.1 He died on 13 February 1952.
