John Charles Ramsden was born on 30 April 1788.2 He was the son of Sir John Ramsden, 4th Bt. and Hon. Louisa Susan Ingram-Shepheard. He married Hon. Isabella Dundas, daughter of Thomas Dundas, 1st Baron Dundas of Aske and Lady Charlotte FitzWilliam, on 4 May 1814.2 He died on 29 December 1836 at age 48, in the lifetime of the father , with another son and two other daughters (all died young):.2

William Rose Mansfield, 1st Baron Sandhurst was born on 21 June 1819.1 He was the son of John Edward Mansfield and Mary Buchanan Smith.2 He married Margaret Fellowes, daughter of Robert Fellowes and Jane Louisa Sheldon, on 2 November 1854.1 He died on 23 June 1876 at age 57.1
He was Ensign 53rd , Captain 1843, served 1st Sikh War 1845–46 (ADC to Commander-in-Chief Batttle of Sobraon 1846), Major 1847, commander 53rd Foot Punjab War 1848–49 (fought Battle of Gujerat 1849), Lieutenant-Colonel 1851, served Peshawar frontier 1851 Foot 1835.1 He was educated RMC Sandhurst (passed out top, which entitled him to a commission free of charge (this did not stop him opposing the abolition of promotion by purchase when a peer, however).1 He commemorated this earliest triumph in his choice of title over a third of a century later).1 He lived Sandhurst.1 He was created 1st Baron Sandhurst. He was Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) ) in 1858.1 On 12 February 1866 KSI ).1 He was Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India (G.C.S.I.) ( on 24 May 1866.1 He was Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) ( in 1870.1 He was Privy Counsellor (P.C.) (I ) in 1870.1 On 28 March 1871 so created.1
