     Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 3rd Bt. was born on 14 November 1905.1 He was the son of Major Sir John Smiley, 2nd Bt. and Valerie Champion de Crespigny.2 He married Nancy Elizabeth Louise Hardy Beaton, daughter of Ernest Walter Hardy Beaton and Etty Sisson, on 18 January 1933.1 He died on 1 November 1990 at age 84.1
     Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 3rd Bt. fought in the Second World War.1 He was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Smiley, of Drumalis, Larne, co. Antrim and Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire [U.K., 1903] on 13 April 1930.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire in 1952.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Hampshire in 1959.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hampshire between 1962 and 1973.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire between 1973 and 1982.1

     Nancy Elizabeth Louise Hardy Beaton was the daughter of Ernest Walter Hardy Beaton and Etty Sisson.3,4 She married Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 3rd Bt., son of Major Sir John Smiley, 2nd Bt. and Valerie Champion de Crespigny, on 18 January 1933.1 She died in 1999.1
     From 18 December 1933, her married name became Smiley.

     Lt.-Col. Sir John Philip Smiley, 4th Bt. was born on 24 February 1934.3 He is the son of Sir Hugh Houston Smiley, 3rd Bt. and Nancy Elizabeth Louise Hardy Beaton.2 He married Davina Elizabeth Griffiths, daughter of Denis Charles Griffiths, on 2 November 1963.3
     Lt.-Col. Sir John Philip Smiley, 4th Bt. was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.3 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.3 He fought in the Cyprus Campaign between 1958 and 1959.3 He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Bermuda between 1961 and 1962.3 He retired from the military in 1986, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, late of the Grenadier Guards.3 He was with Russell Reynolds Associates between 1986 and 1989.3 He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Smiley, of Drumalis, Larne, co. Antrim and Gallowhill, Paisley, Renfrewshire [U.K., 1903] on 1 November 1990.1 He became a Master of the Court Assistants Grocer's Company between 1992 and 1993.3 He lived in 2003 at Cornerway House, Chobham, Surrey, England.3
