     David George Arbuthnot was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.² He graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).² He was invested as a Companion, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (C.St.J.).² He was invested as a Fellow, Zoological Society (F.Z.S.) in 1940.² He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of South Africa between 1941 and 1942.²
