     Alexander Hamilton of Ballencrieff was born circa 1685. He was the son of James Hamilton of Ballencrieff and Margaret Nicolson.2 He married Lady Mary Kerr, daughter of Lt.-Gen. William Kerr, 2nd Marquess of Lothian and Lady Jane Campbell.3 He died in 1763.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ballencrieff. He held the office of Postmaster-General [Scotland].

     William Hay, 4th Earl of Erroll was the son of William Hay, 3rd Earl of Erroll and Lady Isabella Gordon.1 He married, firstly, Christian Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 3rd Lord Glamis and Elizabeth Scrymgeour, circa 24 April 1492.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Kerr, daughter of Andrew Kerr of Auldtounburn and Cessford and Margaret Tweedie, circa 17 May 1509.1 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, EnglandG.1
     He succeeded as the 5th Lord Hay [S., 1430] on 14 January 1506/7.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Erroll [S., 1452] on 14 January 1506/7.1 He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Aberdeen on 10 February 1510/11.1 He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.1
