     William Hay, 4th Earl of Erroll was the son of William Hay, 3rd Earl of Erroll and Lady Isabella Gordon.1 He married, firstly, Christian Lyon, daughter of John Lyon, 3rd Lord Glamis and Elizabeth Scrymgeour, circa 24 April 1492.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Kerr, daughter of Andrew Kerr of Cessford, circa 17 May 1509.1 He died on 9 September 1513 at Flodden Field, Northumberland, England.1
     William Hay, 4th Earl of Erroll succeeded to the title of 5th Lord Hay [S., 1430] on 14 January 1506/7.1 He succeeded to the title of 4th Earl of Erroll [S., 1452] on 14 January 1506/7.1 He held the office of Hereditary Sheriff of Aberdeen on 10 February 1510/11.1 He fought in the Battle of Flodden on 9 September 1513.1
