     James Butler, 4th/14th Baron Dunboyne was the son of Edmund Butler, 3rd/13th Baron Dunboyne and Margaret Butler.2,3 He married Ellen Butler, daughter of Pierce Butler, 1st Viscount of Ikerrin and Lady Helen Butler.1 He died in 1662, without male issue.3
     He succeeded as the 14th Baron Dunboyne [I., 1324] on 17 May 1640.3 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Dunboyne, co. Meath [I., 1541] on 17 May 1640.3
