     Major Robert Alexander Hambro was born on 7 July 1910.1 He was the son of Angus Valdimar Hambro and Rosamund Maud Kearsley.2 He married Barbara Jessica Hardy Beaton, daughter of Ernest Walter Hardy Beaton, on 6 November 1934.1 He died on 8 August 1943 at age 33, from wounds received in action.1
     Major Robert Alexander Hambro was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Recce Corps.1 He fought in the Second World War.1

     Sir Erskine William Gladstone of Fasque and Balfour, 7th Bt. was born on 29 October 1925.3 He is the son of Charles Andrew Gladstone of Fasque and Balfour and Isla Margaret Crum.2 He married Rosamund Anne Hambro, daughter of Major Robert Alexander Hambro and Barbara Jessica Hardy Beaton, on 10 September 1962.1
     Sir Erskine William Gladstone of Fasque and Balfour, 7th Bt. usually went by his middle name of William.4 He was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.3 He gained the rank of Sub-Lieutenant between 1943 and 1946 in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.3 He graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).3 He was an Assistant Master between 1949 and 1950 at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England.3 He was an Assistant Master between 1951 and 1961 at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.5 He was the Headmaster between 1961 and 1969 at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England.3 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Liverpool University, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.3 He succeeded to the title of 7th Baronet Gladstone, of Fasque and Balfour, co. Kincardine [U.K., 1846] on 28 April 1968.4 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Flintshire in 1969.3 He held the office of County Alderman for Flintshire between 1970 and 1974.5 He was Chief Scout for the UK and overseas branches between 1972 and 1982.5 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Clwyd between 1974 and 1984.5 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Flintshire in 1982.3 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Clwyd between 1984 and 1985.5 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Clwyd between 1985 and 2000.3 He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1999.3 He lived in 2003 at Hawarden Castle, Flintshire, Wales.3
