     Robert Shirley was born on 4 September 1673.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Shirley, 1st Earl Ferrers and Elizabeth Washington.2 He married, firstly, Catherine Venables, daughter of Peter Venables.1 He married, secondly, Anne Ferrers, daughter of Sir Humphrey Ferrers, on 27 September 1698.3 He died on 25 February 1698/99 at age 25.1
     He also had two daughters.1
