Sir Robert Shirley, 4th Bt. was born after 1623. He was the son of Sir Henry Shirley, 2nd Bt. and Lady Dorothy Devereux.1 He married Catherine Okeover, daughter of Humphrey Okeover.2 He died on 6 November 1656 at Tower of London, The City, London, England, possibly from poisoning.2
He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Shirley, of Staunton Harold [E., 1611] on 7 June 1646.2 As a Royalist, he was committed to the Tower of London by Oliver Cromwell.2
