     Cecilia Louisa Des Voeux is the daughter of Sir Charles Des Voeux, 2nd Bt. and Christina Hird.1 She married Lt.-Col. William Hicks Slade, son of General Sir John Slade, 1st Bt. and Matilda Ellen Dawson, on 30 July 1861.1 She died on 14 March 1931.2
     From 30 July 1861, her married name became Slade.1

     Lt.-Col. William Hicks Slade was born on 9 December 1829.3 He was the son of General Sir John Slade, 1st Bt. and Matilda Ellen Dawson.2 He married Cecilia Louisa Des Voeux, daughter of Sir Charles Des Voeux, 2nd Bt. and Christina Hird, on 30 July 1861.1 He died on 28 July 1884 at age 54.1
     Lt.-Col. William Hicks Slade gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 5th Lancers.3
