     Penelope Madan was the daughter of Martin Madan. She married Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt., son of Charles Maitland, 6th Earl of Lauderdale and Lady Elizabeth Ogilvy, on 27 June 1754. She died on 22 December 1805.
     From 27 June 1754, her married name became Maitland.

     Sir Alexander Charles Maitland, 2nd Bt. was born on 21 August 1755. He was the son of Hon. Sir Alexander Maitland, 1st Bt. and Penelope Madan. He married Helen Gibson-Wright, daughter of Alexander Gibson-Wright and Margaret Gibson, on 30 April 1786. He died on 7 February 1848 at age 92.
     Sir Alexander Charles Maitland, 2nd Bt. gained the title of 2nd Baronet Maitland.
