Sarah Bowes-Lyon was the daughter of Thomas Bowes-Lyon, 11th Earl of Strathmore and Eliza Northcote. She married, firstly, George Augustus Campbell on 2 November 1834. She married, secondly, Major Charles Philip Ainslie on 13 July 1843. She died on 6 June 1847.

George Bowes-Lyon was born on 17 November 1771. He was the son of John Bowes, 9th Earl of Strathmore and Mary Eleanor Bowes. He married Mary Thornhill, daughter of Edward Thornhill, on 14 June 1805. He died on 26 December 1806 at age 35, without issue.1

John Middleton, 1st Earl of Middleton was born circa 1608.2 He was the son of Robert Middleton and Helen Strachan.1,2 He married Grizel Durham, daughter of James Durham, in July 1639.3 He died in 1673 at Tangier, Morocco.2
