Janet Moncrieffe was born in 1715.1 She was the daughter of Sir Thomas Moncreiffe of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Smythe.1 She married Hon. Charles Barclay-Maitland of Tillicoultrie, son of Charles Maitland, 6th Earl of Lauderdale and Lady Elizabeth Ogilvy, on 11 February 1768.1 She died on 6 November 1799, without issue.1

Frederick Henry Maitland, 13th Earl of Lauderdale was born on 16 December 1840. He was the son of Maj.-Gen. Frederick Colthurst Maitland and Ann Deering Williams. He married, firstly, Charlotte Sarah Sleigh, daughter of Lt.-Col. B. W. A. Sleigh, on 28 November 1864. He married, secondly, Ada Twyford Simpson, daughter of Reverend Henry Trail Simpson, in 1883. He died on 1 September 1924 at age 83.
