Henry Bentinck Boyle, 5th Earl of Shannon was born on 22 November 1833 at London, England. He was the son of Richard Boyle, 4th Earl of Shannon and Emily Henrietta Seymour. He married, firstly, Lady Blanche Emma Lascelles, daughter of Henry Lascelles, 3rd Earl of Harewood and Lady Louisa Thynne, on 12 July 1859 at London, England. He married, secondly, Julia Charlotte Cradock-Hartopp, daughter of Sir William Edmund Cradock-Hartopp, 3rd Bt. and Jane Mary Keane, on 14 January 1868 at Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1 He died on 8 February 1890 at age 56 at Castle Martyr.
