Frederick John Robinson, 1st Earl of Ripon held the office of First Lord of the Treasury between 1827 and 1828.1 He was created 1st Viscount Goderich [U.K.] on 28 April 1827.1 He held the office of Secretary of State for the Colonies.1 He held the office of Lord Privy Seal.1 He was created 1st Earl of Ripon, co. York [U.K.] on 13 April 1833.1

Ethel Adeline Pottinger was the daughter of Sir Henry Pottinger, 3rd Bt..1 She married Sir Henry Meysey Meysey-Thompson, 1st and last Baron Knaresborough, son of Sir Harry Stephen Meysey-Thompson, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Anne Croft, on 21 April 1885.1 She died on 18 August 1922.1
