Alexander Livingstone, 1st Earl of Linlithgow was the son of William Livingston, 6th Lord Livingston and Agnes Fleming.1 He married Lady Helen Hay, daughter of Andrew Hay, 8th Earl of Erroll and Lady Jean Hay, on 26 January 1583/84.2 He died on 24 December 1621.
