Dorothy Fane

     Dorothy Fane was the daughter of Charles Fane, 1st Viscount Fane and Mary Stanhope.1 She married John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, son of Edward Richard Montagu, Viscount Hinchinbroke and Elizabeth Popham, on 3 March 1740/41.1 She died on 17 July 1797.1
     After her marriage, Dorothy Fane was styled as Countess of Sandwich on 3 March 1740/41. From 3 March 1740/41, her married name became Montagu.

Charles Fane, 1st Viscount Fane

     Charles Fane, 1st Viscount Fane was born on 30 January 1675/76.1 He was the son of Sir Henry Fane and Elizabeth Southcote.1 He married Mary Stanhope, daughter of Hon. Alexander Stanhope and Catherine Burghill, on 12 December 1707. He died on 7 July 1744 at age 68.
     He gained the title of 1st Viscount Fane.

     Lady Elizabeth Montagu was the daughter of George Montague-Dunk, 2nd Earl of Halifax and Anne Richards.1 She married John Montagu, 5th Earl of Sandwich, son of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich and Dorothy Fane, on 1 March 1766.1 She died on 1 July 1768.1
     Her married name became Montagu.

     Lady Mary Grey was born on 2 May 1807.2 She was the daughter of Charles Grey, 2nd Earl Grey and Hon. Mary Elizabeth Ponsonby.1 She married Charles Wood, 1st Viscount Halifx of Monk Bretton, son of Sir Francis Lindley Wood, 2nd Bt. and Anne Buck, on 29 July 1829.1 She died on 6 July 1884 at age 77.1
     Her married name became Wood. After her marriage, Lady Mary Grey was styled as Viscountess Halifax of Monk Bretton on 21 February 1866. She was awarded the Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.)1

     George John Montagu, 6th Earl of Sandwich was born on 4 February 1773.1 He was the son of John Montagu, 5th Earl of Sandwich and Lady Mary Henrietta Powlett.1 He married Lady Louisa Mary Ann Julia Harriet Lowry-Corry, daughter of Armar Lowry-Corry, 1st Earl of Belmore and Lady Harriet Hobart, on 9 July 1804.2 He died on 21 May 1818 at age 45.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Huntingdonshire between 1794 and 1814.1 He succeeded as the 6th Viscount Hinchingbrooke, co. Huntingdon [E., 1660] on 6 June 1814.2 He succeeded as the 6th Earl of Sandwich, co. Kent [E., 1660] on 6 June 1814.2 He succeeded as the 6th Baron Montagu of St. Neots, co. Huntingdon [E., 1660] on 6 June 1814.2

     Somerset Hamilton Butler, 1st Earl of Carrick was born on 6 September 1718.2 He was the son of Thomas Butler, 6th Viscount Ikerrin and Margaret Hamilton.3 He was baptised on 9 September 1718 at Marylebone, London, EnglandG.1 He married Lady Juliana Boyle, daughter of Henry Boyle, 1st Earl of Shannon and Lady Henrietta Boyle, on 18 May 1745.2 He died on 15 April 1774 at age 55 at County Kilkenny, IrelandG.2,4 He was buried at Thomastown, County Kilkenny, IrelandG.4
     He succeeded as the 8th Viscount Ikerrin, co. Tipperary [I., 1629] on 20 October 1721.2 He matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, on 1 July 1735.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 14 April 1746.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, on 23 February 1747.1 He was created 1st Earl of Carrick, co. Tipperary [Ireland] on 10 June 1748.2

     Lady Agneta Harriet Yorke was born on 13 December 1838.2 She was the daughter of Admiral Charles Philip Yorke, 4th Earl of Hardwicke and Hon. Susan Liddell.2 She married Rear-Admiral Hon. Victor Alexander Montagu, son of John William Montagu, 7th Earl of Sandwich and Lady Mary Paget, on 28 November 1867.2 She died on 12 March 1919 at age 80.2
     Her married name became Montagu. She was Lady Bedchamber to HRH Princess Helena Christian.2
